Entry #2 - The Tone Within the Portrait

Hey everyone, In this next blog post I'd like to talk about music, specifically the afrobeats genre. Afrobeats is a vibrant, modern music genre originating from West Africa, primarily Nigeria and Ghana, blending traditional rhythms with pop, dancehall, highlife, and hip-hop. It is characterized by infectious, high-energy percussion and deep bass lines, often highlighting themes of partying, love, and success. Out of all the music genres in the world, afrobeats has got to be a favorite genre because of its addictive beats and thoughtful lyrics.  Image Source Modern pop, R&B, and hip-hop are known to have been heavily influenced by contemporary afrobeats. Afrobeats is the sound of joy, pride, and movement. It didn't come from industry formulas or market trends. It came from the streets, from Lagos, from Accra, and from black creativity in motion.
