Entry #5 - The Art of Mayhem
Hey everyone, let's talk.
You've might've seen some Allstate Mayhem commercials such as the one above at least once in your life. They have a very interesting and comedic concept so let's dive into that!
This particular Allstate Mayhem commercial is titled "Mayhem Action Hero: 60". The commercial consists of many things such as adrenaline music, move credits in the beginning, and Mayhem driving through the city while running over things you'd typically see in a chase scene of an action movie like Fast & Furious or Mission Impossible.

This is all being shown while Mayhem narrates the crazy things he's driving through. At the end of the commercial he says, "Get Allstate because mayhem is everywhere." Not only is this a persuasive tactic to get viewers like you and I to purchase Allstate, but it also has some comedic value to it since his name is also Mayhem. Allstate ads tend to include a lot of these types of phrases to connect with viewers on a more informal scale in order to have a higher chance of convincing them to get Allstate.
But what is Allstate? Allstate is a major insurance company that provides auto, home, life, and other personal insurance products. Paired with an action-type chase scene with Mayhem damaging the car by running through various things, it supports the fact that Allstate will cover any type of damages, even the ones caused by the most ridiculous things. Allstate's slogan "You're in Good Hands" shown at the end of the chase scene commercial with the burning car in the background almost reassures viewers that they are actually in good hands if damages to their car are actually that severe. The chase aspect of the commercial as well as the constant reassurance that viewers are in good hands attracts younger and older generations. So maybe we are in good hands.
Stay safe yall!
This is a solid analysis of the Allstate “Mayhem” campaign, and you do a good job breaking down how the humor and chaos work together to keep viewers engaged. I like how you connect the action-movie style fast pacing, destruction, narration to familiar films like Fast & Furious and Mission Impossible, because it helps explain why the ad feels instantly recognizable and attention-grabbing
